The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says 30 states have already reported flu activity. Health officials say this is the earliest start to the season in a decade.
Dr. David Kugler says New York has seen a spike in the number of flu cases.
“In October there were only 75 cases of flu reported, and now it’s almost up to 300 cases of flu,” says Dr. Kugler. “So it’s more than doubled.”
It’s unclear how severe this year’s flu strain will be, or how long flu season will last.
Dr. Kugler says there’s no reason to be worried, but you should be proactive by getting vaccinated. He says remember to cover your coughs and sneezes, use tissues and wash your hands.
